Barcelona Stained Glass Blue

Leaded slumped glass and ceramic
1m x 1m

One of Kay’s degree pieces was a doorway designed for the Textile Museum in Barcelona, discovered when she spent several months there in 1994 as an Erasmus student. One element of the door was a leaded glass and ceramic panel with slumped glass mimicking the relief shape of the ceramic tiles. Kay resized the panel to fit into a window designed into the bathroom/bedroom wall to allow coloured light to flow through by day and night.

It was serendipitous that the colour scheme matched exactly the tiles left over from her public art commission Llanbradach Follies that she chose to tile the bathroom with.
